Kasten Community Development Center

In December 2005, the Community Caring Council was awarded a Basic Support Grant by the Missouri Foundation for Health. This $78,950 grant allows us to provide space for our Community Plan Priority Issue Councils and committees to meet, and allows staff to be on-site to support and facilitate those meetings. Future plans include development of a resource center for data collection and data sharing.

The Center was officially dedicated in May 2006 to Mary and Mel Kasten for their life-long commitment to the Cape Girardeau community and the Community Caring Council.

The Kasten Community Development Center is also the location for the monthly Community Caring Council meetings, for Board meetings, and for the standing council committees to meet. Missouri Mentoring Partnership holds their parenting classes there as well.

In addition, the Center provides a location for other community organizations to conduct meetings, a place for small community-interest meetings, and a place for the Council to begin providing Strategic Planning and Board Development training opportunities to other non-profits in the community.

The Community Caring Council invites you to visit our new Kasten Community Development Center at 937 Broadway, Suite 102.

Two meeting rooms are available to any community group for a fee of $10 per meeting.
